I love good coffee. And I also love a pretty cup and ambiance to go with it. After many visits to different cafes and espresso bars all over L.A., I have narrowed down my top 5 for originality, environment, and of course, the quality of the buzz.
1. BLUE BOTTLE
Consistently solid and mild-tasting. This Bay Area franchise has finally made its way into my city, Beverly Hills. I frequent their Culver City location and often have my office meetings there. My all-time favorite location is in Palo Alto. Friendly staff and you can’t go wrong with a cappuccino. https://bluebottlecoffee.com/
2. TILT COFFEE
I have several downtown L.A. coffee favorites, but this one is tops for simplicity, quality beans, and a strong buzz. The founders are inspiring and excellent barista. I loved their cappuccinos and latte art. https://www.tiltcoffeebar.com/
3. DEMITASSE
Sometimes a bit inconsistent, but their lavender liquid hot chocolate is still a crowd favorite. Make sure they include that marshmallow. They have 3 locations – I only go to their original location in Little Tokyo. https://cafedemitasse.com/
4. JAVISTA ORGANIC COFFEE BAR
Their cappuccino is very good and the quality stands out. Also, order their outstanding avocado toasts. Everything on the menu is memorable, including their homey outdoor space. http://javistacafe.com/
5. THE ASSEMBLY
Probably my favorite coffee spot in West Hollywood. The coffee is strong, so be forewarned. Their matcha latte are beautiful and their minimalist decor is appreciated. http://www.theassemblycafe.com/
