SICILY

Sicily is the kind of place that gets under your skin and refuses to leave. The largest island in the Mediterranean sits at a crossroads of civilizations, and the evidence of every one of them is still present in its temples, its towns, its food, and its people. Our founder has traveled Sicily thrice, spending time in Taormina, Palermo, Noto, Ragusa, and Ortigia, and returning each time with a deeper understanding of what makes this island unlike anywhere else in Italy.

Food

Sicilian food is its own tradition, distinct from the rest of Italy and inseparable from the island’s layered history. Arab influences left behind almonds, citrus, saffron, and couscous in the west. Greek settlers introduced olive oil and wine that still define the region. The street food of Palermo, the seafood of the coast, the pistachio everything of Bronte, and the wines produced on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna make Sicily one of the most compelling food destinations in Europe. Every itinerary we design here includes serious time at the table.

Culture

Sicily’s history is written in stone across the entire island. Greek temples in Agrigento and Selinunte, the Arab Norman Cathedral of Palermo, the UNESCO listed baroque towns of the Val di Noto, and the Greek theater in Taormina with its view of Mount Etna are all evidence of how many civilizations have called this place home. The markets of Palermo are among the most visceral and alive cultural experiences in Italy. We build time into every itinerary to experience the culture slowly and without a checklist.

Design

Sicily’s visual language is one of the richest in the Mediterranean. The baroque architecture of Noto and Ragusa, all golden limestone and ornate facades, reaches a level of theatrical beauty that stops you mid-street. The hand-painted ceramics of Caltagirone, the mosaic work of Monreale, and the layers of architectural influence visible in a single block of Palermo all speak to an island that has always understood beauty as a necessity. The properties we select here are chosen for their relationship to this visual heritage, with a preference for character driven stays that feel like a natural extension of the destination.

The Nomoon Difference

We have traveled Sicily twice, across both the eastern and western sides of the island, and continue to follow its food, design, and cultural evolution closely. Our itineraries are not built from aggregator research. They are built from personal experience in the markets, the restaurants, the towns, and the landscapes that make Sicily one of the most rewarding destinations we cover. Every trip is designed from the ground up around your pace and your interests, with an emphasis on the experiences that cannot be templated.

We work with a carefully selected network of hotels, operators, and experience providers in Sicily. If you represent a property or service that aligns with our standards, visit our Partners page to introduce yourself.
