ITALY

Italy rewards travelers who slow down and let the country come to them. Each region has its own dialect, its own table, its own way of moving through the day, and no two parts of the country feel alike. We return to Italy every year, with a particular depth of knowledge in the south, and we design itineraries that move between the well-known and the genuinely unexpected. Every trip we build here is rooted in firsthand experience and real local relationships.
Food
Italian food is not a single cuisine. It is a collection of deeply regional traditions, each tied to a specific landscape, climate, and history. In Puglia, orecchiette is made by hand in doorways, burrata is eaten the morning it is made, and the olive oil is among the finest produced anywhere in the world. Further north, the food culture of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and the Amalfi coast each tells a completely different story. We build every Italian itinerary around the table as much as the sightseeing, and we know which trattorias, markets, and producers are worth your time.
Culture
Southern Italy in particular carries a cultural depth that surprises most travelers. The UNESCO listed trulli of Alberobello, the ancient cave city of Matera, the baroque towns of Lecce and Ostuni, and the Greek and Roman ruins scattered across Puglia and Basilicata are evidence of how many civilizations have left their mark on this corner of the country. In the north, Florence, Rome, and the hilltowns of Tuscany and Umbria offer a different but equally layered cultural experience. We design itineraries that connect travelers to all of it without rushing through any of it.
Design
Italy’s design tradition is unmatched in the world, and it is visible at every scale. The conical trulli of Alberobello, the carved stone facades of Lecce, the Renaissance architecture of Florence, and the precise geometry of a Roman piazza all reflect a country that has always treated the built environment as an expression of culture. The properties we select in Italy are chosen for their relationship to this heritage, with a preference for stays in masserie, historic palazzos, and carefully restored structures that feel like a natural part of the landscape they occupy.
The Nomoon Difference
We have traveled Italy extensively and return every year, with particular expertise in Puglia, the Amalfi Coast, and Sicily. Our relationships with local chefs, guides, and property owners allow us to build itineraries that open doors most travelers never find. We do not build Italy trips from a guidebook. We build them from personal experience on the ground, and we bring that knowledge directly to every client itinerary we design.
We work with a carefully selected network of hotels, operators, and experience providers across Italy. If you represent a property or service that aligns with our standards, visit our Partners page to introduce yourself.
